At its origin, the act of weaving is a gesture of negotiating with and connecting to Nature.
Commitment
Faithful to its corporate values, Yves Delorme takes a strong environmental stand and utilises only natural raw materials produced under the highest quality and ethical standards.
Yves Delorme now manufactures with certified organic cotton that furnishes solid fibres of excellent quality that are also particularly resistant. Organic cotton not only eliminates toxic products and pesticides from its production, it also respects soil fertility, has less impact on air quality, uses 88% less water and 62% less energy than cotton that is produced by conventional methods. In addition, organic agriculture is conducted according to environmental and social standards certifying that collaborators benefit from work regulations protecting them to harmful chemicals and that insures their well-being.
Eco-Responsible Actions
Yves Delorme cultivates the daily practice of eco-responsible actions in order to preserve our collective natural resources.
Yves Delorme has chosen energy efficient work spaces that operate according to the principles of a circular economy. Keeping its impact of CO2 emissions at its lowest, in 2016 the House unified its dyeing and yarn facilities in order to reduce the transportation of merchandise and to favour resources found in close proximity. In the Sevelinges weaving studio, the House consolidates and reuses residual threads and recycles surplus woven goods. The House has invested in cutting-edge technology that functions with a system of rain-water harvesting to iron textiles and it also favours utilising spring water in order to avoid chemicals and the effects of excess transportation. Yves Delorme believes that the industries of creation and design have a primary responsibility to reduce the presence of plastics at their source. In the scope of its actions to protect the Oceans, the House actively seeks the reduction and replacement of plastics along the entire product supply chain, including the replacement of plastic by qualitative, reusable pouches for its finished products and linens.
Standard 100 by OEKO-TEX
All Yves Delorme products are labelled STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® (certificate number CQ 885/2 IFTH) which is the premiere globally standardised and independent testing and certification system for textile raw materials, intermediate & end products of all processing stages and accessory materials used.
The STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® label guarantees that certified products are free of toxic substances and are safe for the skin.
Blue Standard Verified By Oceanic Global
At Yves Delorme we are proud to have obtained the 3-star verification with the Blue Standard by Oceanic Global for our efforts to protect our blue planet.
The 3-star seal, the highest level awarded, recognises our commitment to eliminate harmful single-use plastics from our business, exceed local waste management regulations, and implement ‘Blue’ actions that further the sustainability of our operations. Prominent examples at Yves Delorme include the establishment of systematic recycling in both offices and tailoring and weaving studios, with a dedicated infrastructure and traceability, the utilisation of energy certified appliances, the management and re-use of excess threads and fabrics in its workshops, and rainwater harvesting for washing and ironing textiles, and of course, the elimination of single-use plastics and other plastics from our business. As a Blue-verified company, we are part of a global movement to find balance between industries and the natural world that sustains them.
